Ardbeg Caps Off Anthology Series With Beithir's Tale

Ardbeg is ready to conclude its Anthology series with one last expression: The Beithir’s Tale, named after a mythological, serpent-like beast.

The Beithir’s Tale is Ardbeg’s first whisky to be matured in designer, heavily toasted, and lightly charred Bourbon casks, which were air-seasoned and crafted to the distillery's specific requirements.

After 15 years, this experimental single malt is said to offer an array of aromas, including treacle, creosote, smoked herbs, toasted apples, raisins, fennel, and pine.

The palate boasts flavors of peat smoke, coffee grounds, currants, sweet lemon balm, and smoked mandarins, followed by a finish with notes of vanilla and smoked butter.

The Ardbeg Anthology trilogy was a series inspired by mythical creatures, with the single malts within aimed at blending classic Ardbeg with experimental stock to create ‘sweeter, more delicate’ flavours.

The first release, a 13-year-old single malt called The Harpy’s Tale, was launched in August 2023, followed by 14-year-old The Unicorn’s Tale in July 2024.

Ardbeg Anthology: The Beithir’s Tale comes in at 46% ABV with an MSRP of £135 (US$179).

The limited release will be available on the distillery’s website and at the visitor centre on Islay, as well as in Ardbeg Embassies and select whisky specialists.
