Ardbeg’s Third Anthology The Beithir's Tale Is One Of Sea Dragons & Designer Charred Casks

Ardbeg's rather popular Anthology series has brought us up close to mythical creatures from Harpies to Unicorns, and now we're about to face off with something much more fearsome - a Beithir!

What's a Beithir?

We've had to Google as much to find out - the Beithir comes from Scottish folklore and describes a large and deadly kind of sea serpent or dragon that is without wings or a fiery breath, but instead has a venomous sting and can be found dwelling in caves near rivers or lochs. According to Scottish legend, if you're ever strung by one, you must reach the nearest body of water being the Beithir does or face certain doom. Cool!

And so Ardbeg's third Anthology release - The Beithir's Tale - is a 15 Year Old, bottled at 46% ABV.

Wholly matured in designer charred bourbon casks, The Beithir's Tale is a supremely aromatic dram. A splash of water reveals hefty notes of eucalyptus and menthol, followed by sharp tangs of fennel and pine. Astounding balanced, earthy coffee grits and peat smoke slither into sweet raisins, subtle vanilla and smoked butter.

On the back, we're told,

Full-Bellied And Smoky

Aged for 15 years in special designer charred bourbon casks, these barrels have been air seasoned, heavily toasted, and then lightly charred. With a nose that beguiles and charms, a mouthful that glides across the palate, and a finish that dwells long after the final sip, The Beithir's Tale is yet another rare and enduring spirit in The Ardbeg Anthology Collection.

Kanpai!
