Ardbeg is going nuts for Japan with the release of Ardbeg Feòrag, a new Japan-exclusive edition that will be available exclusively for Japanese members of the Ardbeg Committee through the online store.
Ardbeg Feòrag is a single malt Scotch that combines the brand's signature smokiness with the aromas of hazelnuts and dried fruits, and is inspired by the wild hazelnuts grown near the Ardbeg Distillery in Scotland. Notably, it is Ardbeg's first whisky release matured exclusively in Amontillado sherry casks.

The name "Feòrag," means "squirrel" in Scottish Gaelic, and is a playful reference to the tenacious Japanese fans of the distillery, whose "dedication to discovering and treasuring rare whiskies" is likened to squirrels who gather and store nuts.
Official Tasting Notes
Color
Deep bronze color
Aroma
It has a rich, nutty flavor and a well-rounded taste. There are nuances of hazelnut, toffee, honey, leather, and freshly baked rye bread. With a small amount of water added, pleasant dried fruit aromas of dates, sultanas, and raisins emerge, along with a subtle hint of daffodil and surprisingly gentle floral aromas like a touch of jasmine.
Palate
The texture is firm and spicy, yet strangely pleasant, leaving a gentle tingling sensation in the mouth. However, a powerful flavor quickly follows. Nuances of nutty toffee, aniseed, well-worn leather, ginger root, and flowering currants can be detected. Smoke is always present in the background, blending into the complex flavors and leaving a deep, lingering finish reminiscent of burnt wood, tar, and clove oil.
Finish
The presence of smoke is always noticeable, blending into the complex flavor while bringing nuances of creosote, birch tar, and clove oil.
Bottled at 53.2% ABV in 700ml bottles, the whisky will be available from 7pm, 30th November on the Japan online store at a MSRP of ¥29,700 ($188.29 USD).
