Ardbeg is back at it with a couple of new releases! The two releases seem to be in celebration of the Ardbeg Committee's 25th Anniversary!

First up we've got Eureka! 

As we know, Ardbeg has perhaps the largest fanbase in the world with its very own Ardbeg Committee, which is very formal way to call its fanbase to whom limited editions are released to for their evaluation. Joining the Committee is free by the way! You can join here.

That said, the Eureka seems to be... designed by the Committee, sort of?

For a quarter of a century, it has been the Ardbeg Committee's raison d'etre to debate, discuss and disagree in any way it sees fit about the ultimate Islay malt. As indeed a select group were summoned to do in a hidden corner of the Distillery on Ardbeg Day. This whisky is the result of those top secret deliberations. After months of experimentation in pursuit of the ultimate Committee bottling, our whisky creation team have pull off the impossible. Slainte mhath to the 25 years of the Ardbeg Committee!

Is it possible to capture the multifarious taste preferences of thousands of fans in a single dram? If this bottling is anything to go by, the answer is a resounding "yes!" By skilfully combining PX sherry casks with roasted malt spirit matured in bourbon casks, Ardbeg's whisky creators have masterminded this exuberate and complex dram. 

Notes of salted crispy seaweed and sweet cinnamon jostle with dark chocolate coated raisins and burning embers. A paradoxical whisky truly befitting the hotchpotch nature of the Committee, united by a love of all things smoky. Eureka!

This double cask PX Sherry and Bourbon Ardbeg is bottled at 52.2% ABV. A big boi!

And then we get to the Smokiverse!

This appears to be another one of Ardbeg's experiments, a high gravity one at that!

Created using high gravity mashing, this Ardbeg Day malt is a first for the Distillery. From the dense swirl of a highly concentrated wort, our mash tun has given rise to a whisky of monumental proportions. Take a sip and plunge your palate into a fruity, sweet, and utterly absorbing Ardbeg.

Sounds like an experiment we want a taste of! 

DENSE AND INTENSE

In Ardbeg SMOKIVERSE, energetic aromas of ripe barley and aromatic smoke make for a turbulent nose. Venture further and discover tropical fruits and clove. Finally, peat moss and bonfire embers fuse in a finish that blazes on. 

Thus far Ardbeg's experiments have yielded some pretty positive results that have given cause for some head turning - this one sounds like it's going to be another! This one's bottled at 48.3% ABV.
