Barbados' Foursquare Concludes Exceptional Cask Selection (ECS) Series With A 19 Year Old Epilogue

It seems like the signs were true - it really is the end for Foursquare's beloved and iconic Exceptional Cask Selection (ECS) series! Say it isn't so!

Last week, we reported on a new label that's emerged for Foursquare's ECS, titled "Penultimus". Now, whilst we must concede that we've learnt a great deal of vocabulary through the various ECS releases, many of which sporting words we didn't yet know existed, we definitely knew what penultimus meant.

And with another new ECS label that's emerged today, "Epilogue", it seems that our tea leaves reading was right, and that it really does seem to be the conclusion of Foursquare's ECS releases.

A frontrunner to all the rum madness over the past decade, Richard Seale, legendary owner, master distiller and blender for Barbados' Foursquare Distillery, had already long started laying the groundwork for global rum appreciation to take off, having kickstarted the Exceptional Cask Selection all the way back in 2008, with the debut Foursquare 1998 Vintage ECS Mark I. And thus after an incredible 18 year run, it appears that 2026 will see the final chapter in this series with the Foursquare Epilogue Mark XXXI, a whopping 19 Year Old ex-Bourbon rum, bookending 31 spectacular releases in the range.

The Foursquare Epilogue ECS Mark XXXI is a 19 Year Old ex-Bourbon Pot & Column Still Blend that is due to be released in March 2026 at 57% ABV.

Thank you and big cheers to you Mr Seale for consistently putting out some incredible rums and your commitment to making rums of purity, quality and showing us the subtle art of pushing boundaries of exploration of what rums can be, and for so richly bringing forward the story of Barbados' rum-making!
