Bardstown Bourbon Debuts Whiskey Finished In Ex-Jura Casks With Lochs Of Jura & 2026 Discovery

Expanding its annual portfolio, Lofted Spirits' Bardstown Bourbon Co. has rolled out two new expressions: the 2026 Discovery release and the Lochs of Jura Cask Finish.

The Finishing Series continues the distillery's limited-edition collaborative efforts, while the Discovery Series transitions from a numbered sequence to an annual release schedule.

Lochs of Jura Barrel Finish is a blended expression comprising of 49% 11-year-old Indiana Bourbon, 30% 10-year-old Indiana rye, and 21% 12-year-old Kentucky Bourbon.

It has been finished for 32 months in ex-Bourbon and 223-litre ex-Sherry casks.

The casks are sourced from the Isle of Jura in Scotland and previously used to mature single malt Scotch whisky. They are said to add layers of ripe fruit, soft malt, subtle smoke, and maritime character to the final whiskey.

Bottled at 52% ABV, the whiskey has been said to present notes of vanilla crème with blackberry compote, mint, toasted oak, cigar box, spearmint, caramel, and light cinnamon spice.

On the other hand, the 2026 Discovery is another blend that comprises of 55% 10-year-old Indiana Bourbon, 25% 11-year-old Kentucky Bourbon, and 20% seven-year-old Kentucky Bourbon.

It was then finished for four months in bespoke Oregon white oak (Garryana) barrels.

Sitting at 66.4% ABV, 2026 Discovery is said to have notes of toasted oak, burnt sugar, and baked apple cobbler, with dried cherry and cinnamon bark.

In a brand first, Bardstown Bourbon Co.’s latest annual releases showcase original commissioned art by Louisville painter Margaret Archambault, designed to visually translate each whiskey's sensory profile.

The Lochs of Jura Barrel Finish and 2026 Discovery will be available nationwide in the U.S. in limited quantities from 21 August, with an MSRP of US$139.99.
