It's no secret that Islay has been mounting a full on push towards having its whiskies embody its distinctive provenance - that once meant simply using Islay peat to create the iconic medicinal and coastal smokiness, but has over the years come to mean also locally sourced barley.
As Bruichladdich tells it, "Since reopening in 2001, Islay has been the cornerstone of Bruichladdich Distillery. Championing locally grown barley and putting terroir back into the whisky conversation have shaped out distilling philosophy. What started as a trial with a single farmer has grown to become an islandwide community. No small feat given the difficulty of farming on Islay. The reward is so much more."

And thus to celebrate its 25th anniversary, Bruichladdich is releasing a limited Bruichladdich Old Skool, that is a tribute to the distillery's Islay farming partners. The 10 Year Old whisky, bottled at 50% ABV, has been distilled, matured and bottled at Bruichladdich Distillery, and is as Bruichladdich describes "a whisky that celebrates its Island origins, and all those beyond the distillery gates who bring out whisky to life - reconnecting land, community and dram."
The limited release Bruichladdich Old Skool is made with 100% Islay grown barley and depicts a map showing the farms that Bruichladdich works with, as well as more specifically those whose barley has been used in this special release.
