Iowa's Cedar Ridge is known for its annual Double Barrel Bourbon release, but this year, is launching a double release, featuring a new Double Barrel Rye to accompany the Double Barrel Bourbon.
The rye expression is made with a mashbill of 85% rye, 12% corn, and 3% malted barley. To make this, the distillery’s classic Straight Rye Whiskey was additionally finished in second virgin American oak barrel.
Meanwhile, their regular annual Bourbon release has a mashbill of 74% corn, 14% rye, and 12% malted barley, and was also in a virgin American oak barrel. Official tasting notes point to a palate with flavors of pineapple, grapefruit, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
“This is one of the most anticipated releases we work on each year. Both releases show off our Iowa whiskeys in a unique way and shine the spotlight on our finishing technique," said Master Distiller Murphy Quint.
Bottled at 52.5% ABV, both small batch releases have an MSRP of US$59.99, and are now available nationwide at retailers in the US, as well as at the distillery and its online store.
