Chichibu Paris Edition 2021 [LIVE]

What you need to know:

  • LMDW has opened the ballot for the new Chichibu Paris Edition 2021.
  • It is entitled Conquête, which means Conquest in French.
  • It is composed of multiple barley varietals, including Concerto, Peated Concerto, Venture, Braemar, Tipple and Propino, which went into Chichibu's distilled between 2013 and 2015, and then bottled in 2021. That would make this bottle a 6-7 year old bottling.
  • "With remarkable herbaceous freshness, the palette of flavours and aromas also reveals a particularly juicy fruit, wonderfully noble spices and a camphoric character that at times evokes a now-medicinal peat."
  • A total of 1847 bottles will be released (some via ballot). It is bottled at 53.5% abv, 700ml and priced at 339 EUR (or 392 USD / 288 GBP).
  • Key dates are to enter the ballot before 6:00 PM (Paris time) on October 8th, and results of the ballot will be released on October 13rd, 2021.

Chichibu's are wildly sought after. And I mean WILDLY. But even within this microcosm, there are some sets of Chichibu's that are even more anticipated than the usual already feverish thirst for the Japanese craft whisky.

One of those sets is the Paris Edition that is released by La Maison du Whisky (LMDW) every year, having started the inaugural release in 2018. This is joined by the also popular London Edition (already revealed at the recent Whisky Show in London, featuring Godzilla stomping through London) and US Editions.

This year's Paris Edition 2021 is in its fourth iteration and is now LIVE via LMDW. We'll give you the details on how to get your hands at it down below so hold your horses.

Let's pretend like we care about what's inside the bottle first. We're joking, of course.

The 2021 Edition is titled Conquête, which means Conquest in French.

It is made of a combination of multiple barley varietals, including Concerto, Peated Concerto, Venture, Braemar, Tipple and Propino, which went into Chichibu's distilled between 2013 and 2015, and then bottled in 2021. That would make this bottle a 6-7 year old bottling.

With remarkable herbaceous freshness, the palette of flavours and aromas also reveals a particularly juicy fruit, wonderfully noble spices and a camphoric character that at times evokes a now-medicinal peat.

The exact combination of casks is as follows:
