Chivas Regal has revealed a smoky take on their whisky with the new Extra Smoky Cask Selection.

Selectively finished in casks previously housing peated whisky, it is said to take the otherwise subtle smoky notes in a classic Chivas Regal to new heights, delivering a more pronounced and distinctive smoky character.

The expression is said to have rich notes of spiced apples and roasted chestnuts on the nose, with cranberries, sweet caramel, and gingerbread on the palate. This is all finished with notes of star anise and bonfire smoke.

The expression joins four other expressions in the Extra range, each of which have utilised casks that previously held Irish whiskey, Tequila, rum and oloroso Sherry.

The packaging for the bottle features a charcoal color scheme with golden accents, said to embody the smoky character of the drink. Of course, the iconic Chivas Regal shield and crossed spears remain present.

The expression will have an exclusive launch in Turkey before being rolled out globally.
