Christian Drouin has announced the latest addition to its experimental range, the Savanna Angels Calvados Pays d'Auge.

For the new edition, the house selected barrels from the Savanna rum distillery that had aged traditional rums for 9 to 14 years, the lightest of three categories that Savanna produces. The barrels were then used to age a 17-year-old Pays d'Auge Calvados for between 6 and 9 months.

The resultant spirit is said to have nose notes of vanilla and praline that evolves into musk and dried fruits, along with a palate that is intense, slender, marked by spices. The finish is boasted to have aromas of brown sugar and baked apple.

Christian Drouin's Experimental range explores combining its world-renowned calvados with rum-producing regions like Jamaica, Barbados, Martinique, Trinidad, Tobago and now, Savanna's Réunion Island.

Bottled at 47.5% ABV, the expression can be purchased from the brand's website at an MSRP of €119.00 (US$140).
