Dead Reckoning's Antigua Rum Spiced Up with Australian Dry Aging

Australian's independent bottler of rums, Dead Reckoning, is well-known for popularising the concept of Australian Dry Aged rums – where the dessert climate of South Australia makes ABV rise, making for a weighty, flavourful spirit.

This April, Dead Reckoning is bringing us a new drop distilled in Antigua - the Dead Reckoning Nelson's Dockyard dry aged rum.

About a thousand miles to the east of Jamaica and half that distance from Trinidad, lies the tropical island of Antigua, which coincidentally holds many memories from the yachting past of Dead Reckoning's founder, Justin Boseley.

Antigua Distillery uses antique copper column still to distil molasses base rum which are typically aged in ex-bourbon casks.

The Dead Reckoning Nelson's Dockyard is a 4 year old rum, which had spent 2 years of tropical aging in ex-bourbon casks in Antigua, and 2 years of Australian dry aging in Apera (Australian sherry) cask.

This release is said to encapsulate the finest rum from this island, with flavours intensified by Australian Apera and dry aging.

This new bottling from Dead Reckoning will be available from Australian rum subscription club, The Rum Tribe AU starting from April 2023.

While this release is currently an Australia exclusive, a full barrel of Antigua rum has been set aside for Europe and the US for 2024 by the good folks at Dead Reckoning.
