Few things are more eternal than Buffalo Trace's Sazerac Rye - you know it to be true.
In fact, we should be clear, it is Sazerac Company's Buffalo Trace Distillery that produces the namesake Sazerac Rye, which should indicate exactly how historic and important the Sazerac Rye is, beyond it just being a solid daily drinker in and of its own.
To briefly recap, this of course all started with one Thomas H. Handy who had operated the Sazerac Coffee House, which was a known bar and importer of the Sazerac de Forge Cognac. Now in fact, the Sazerac Coffee House itself had been named after the Sazerac cocktail that was created by the famed Antoine Peychaud. This eventually led to the Sazerac Company publishing the Sazerac cocktail recipe, whilst also producing its bitters named Peychaud's Bitters in honour of Peychaud himself - this marks the immortalisation of the classic Sazerac cocktail!

Traditionally the Sazerac Rye has clocked in at 90 Proof (45% ABV), and then it was just July 2025 that it was announced that Buffalo Trace was going to up the ante with a 100 Proof Sazerac Rye - the crowd went nuts as you might imagine - and so guess what the reaction is going to be when it finally hits that we're now in short succession getting a Sazerac Rye Full Proof at 125 Proof (62.5% ABV)!
Well, there's no argument that the folks at Buffalo Trace - or should I say Sazerac - really know how to get the people going!
Kanpai!
