Glenmorangie Bolsters Travel Retail Offerings With New 16 and 21 Year Old Vindima & Aureum Expressions
The new Glenmorangie Vindima.
If you're flying soon, you might want to keep an eye out for Glenmorangie's new travel retail whiskies: The Glenmorangie Vindima (16 Year Old) and Aureum (21 Year Old).
The 16-year-old is a marriage of whisky aged in Bourbon and Malmsey casks. Malmsey being the sweetest form of fortified Madeira wine.
It is named after the grape harvest festival on the island of Madeira, with the bottle's purple color resembling the harvested grapes.
It is said to have notes of baked peaches and oranges on the nose, while the palate presents orange peel, sultanas and milk-chocolate truffles. Glenmorangie deems it having a long finish with notes of grape and Malmsey.
The Aureum.
The 21-year-old Aureum (Latin for gold) is also designed to represent the warmth of the sun.
Aged in bourbon barrels, it is said to have nose notes of heather honey, pear, melon, lemon sherbet and jasmine, while the palate boasts sweet vanilla, ripe peaches, honeycomb and mint toffee. According to Glenmorangie, the finish also has hints of ginger, sweet chilli and almond marzipan.
Vindima retails for €105 (US$114) at airports across the globe. Aureum, however, is (for now) available at Glenmorangie’s Heathrow boutique for €250 (US$273) with a worldwide travel retail release in September 2024. Both are bottled at 43% ABV.
