Glenmorangie Releases v2 Of The Popular Signet; Signet Reserve Finished In PX Sherry
Remember the Glenmorangie Signet that was such an insider's whisky?
Glenmorangie certainly does, and now has released a new version of the Signet - this time called the Signet Reserve, which will feature a finishing in PX Sherry casks.
The original Signet was launched in 2008, designed to recreate the deep and rich, earthy flavours of a cup of freshly brewed coffee, and thus was made using a combination of single estate Cadboll barley and malted chocolate barley, which was then aged in Bourbon and Sherry casks. As such the specially made whisky is only made for one week each year, where the distillery is required to put everything else on hold to produce the Signet.
With the new edition of the Signet, the Signet Reserve will see a further ageing in Pedro Ximenez Sherry casks, that is expected to further deepen the whisky's flavours. The Signet Reserve takes the classic Signet single malt that is aged in Bourbon, Sherry and Virgin oak casks, and then further ages it in PX casks for an additional round of maturation.
“With its notes of chocolate truffles, toffee, fudge and tiramisu, Glenmorangie Signet Reserve offers layers of luxurious decadence, which will be enjoyed by whisky lovers old and new.”
The new Glenmorangie Signet Reserve is bottled at 46% ABV, and will be priced at £345 (US$446), making itself available at the end of July 2024.
