Habitation Velier Presents Hampden's 9th Mark - The 2019 HES

The previously unseen HES mark will make its first appearance under the Habitation Velier banner as the 9th mark from the Jamaican distillery. It appears that the bottling is a commemoration of La Maison & Velier's (LM&V) 5th Anniversary.

Details on the label tells us that this expression was distilled in 2019 and bottled in 2022, making it 3 Years Old, with an ester count of 253.5 gr/hlpa, and bottled at natural cask strength of 60.5% ABV and at the 150 cl format. The total outturn is for the magnum format is 620 bottles.

"Very typical "Hampden", its aromatic and gustatory palette is made up of sunny and shaded sequences which diffuse a luminosity all in halftones. Moreover, abundantly fruity, floral and freshly herbaceous, it reveals a unity of tone that does not exclude some medicinal and musky upheavals."

For reference, below are the currently offered marks from Hampden Distillery.

OWH Outram W. Hussey 40-80
LFCH Lawrence Francis Close Hussey 90-120
LROK Light Rum Owen Kelly 300-400
HLCF Hampden Light Continental Flavoured 500-700
<>H Hampden 900-1000
HGML Hampden George MacFarquhar Lawson 1000-1100
C<>H Continental Hampden 1300-1400
DOK Dermot Owen Kelly-Lawson 1500-1600

As such, the new HES mark sits between the LFCH and LROK marks, relatively low on the spectrum of Hampden's ester count.
