Jinro Celebrates 100th Anniversary With the New Jinro Gold, and a Season of Surprises!
If you've ever been to a Korean barbeque, are a college student after a long week, or just taking a gander down your supermarket's alcohol aisle, chances are you'll have seen the iconic green bottles of Jinro's Soju. However, Korea's bestselling Soju marks a special moment this year: It's Jinro's 100th anniversary!
Yep, you read that right, Jinro's been around for a whole century. Having changed throughout the years from its humble beginnings, it's come out on top as one of the most widely-sold alcoholic drinks in the whole world.
The classic Jinro Chamisul Fresh, Strawberry, Plum, Peach, Grapefruit, Grape, distilled from rice, with a clean and fresh finish achieved through charcoal filtration with Korean bamboo.
For those that want to know more about Jinro, we've done some exploring here and here!
To mark this momentous occasion, Jinro has unveiled a new soju to add to their impressive lineup: Jinro Gold. At 15.5% ABV, the soju is made with 100 per cent rice distillate, and said to be a culmination of a century's worth of distilling expertise.
The soju is made with a proprietary recipe, reportedly with a ‘golden ratio’ of smoothness. The gold theme even extends to its adorable toad mascot, which has been docked out in gold for the bottle's label.
Jinro Gold can be found in select Korean restaurants in Singapore from July to August.
Also hitting the shelves of supermarkets in Singapore is the Jinro Ilpoom which is made available for the first time in Singapore. This is a premium soju that is not only chill filtered, but also aged for six months in oak barrels and bottled at 25% ABV.
The Jinro Ilpoom will be available at FairPrice Finest and XTRA, as well as select Korean restaurants. The availability will also last from July to August.
For those that are particularly inclined to the Korean drink of somaek (a South Korean beer cocktail made with soju and beer), there are special promotions on HiteJinro's Terra beer and Jinro Soju from now till 2nd of September in select supermarkets.
Customers can head on down to their nearest Prime Supermarket, Cheers, 7-Elevens, Fairprice outlets and Sheng Shiong outlets to look out for such discounts! In addition, there will be in-store and social media contests for a chance to win limited-edition merchandise.
