Johnnie Walker Launches Red Soul Made For Non-Whisky Drinkers

Blended Scotch whisky giant Johnny Walker has unveiled a version of their acclaimed Red Label, intended to be a ‘sweeter, smoother’ version that is 'more accessible for non-whisky drinkers'.

The Johnny Walker Red Soul is drawn from the same reserves of ageing casks used for Red Label, but has been designed to remove the smoky notes found in Red Label’s spicier, smokier, distillery-driven style.

The whisky is said to have notes of rich vanilla sweetness, unfolding caramel fudge and gentle oak, which then settles into a smooth, creamy finish.

The brand said that Master blender Emma Walker and her team designed Johnnie Walker Red Blonde for maximum versatility, specifically targeting new drinkers and casual, early-evening social occasions.

The blend is optimized for "longer and lighter" serves, such as the signature Red Soul and lemonade combination.

As reasoning for the release of Red Soul, Diageo said that recent IWSR data forecasts the entry-level price point as the largest and fastest-growing market segment in the global blended Scotch whisky market until 2029.

At 40% ABV, the Red Soul is being launched in countries across Europe, the Middle East and North Africa at an MSRP of £25 (US$34).
