Jura’s New Ex-Pale Ale Casks Whisky Marks Latest Addition to Cask Edition Series

Scotch whisky brand Jura has launched the latest addition to it’s Cask Edition Series: the Jura Pale Ale Cask Edition.

The Jura Pale Ale Cask Edition will be a single malt matured in ex-bourbon American White oak casks and pale ale casks from local craft breweries.

This new bottling was made in collaboration between Jura’s whisky makers Gregg Glass and Joe Ricketts, with local craft breweries. The distillery provided the partnering breweries with whisky casks with which to create their own signature pale ales. After a seasoning period, the casks are then returned to Jura and used to finish Jura’s ex-bourbon single malts.

The new Pale Ale Cask bottling is the fourth in the island distillery’s Cask Edition Series – joining the earlier three releases which include the Jura Winter Edition, Jura Red Wine Cask Edition and the Jura Rum Cask Finish. The Jura Cask Editions was launched to showcase whisky expressions that “celebrate the connection between the land and spirit, bringing together distinctive flavour profiles”.

The official tasting notes are as follows:

Colour
Golden Yellow

Nose
Honeyed cereal, vanilla spice and hints of pineapple

Palate
Bright and fruity, with sweet citrus and a subtle tropical hop character, rounding off with vanilla for a smooth and creamy finish

Kanpai!
