In what has been a flurry of releases from cult followed South Korean whisky distiller Kim Chang Soo (or Kimchangsoo), it appears that fans have something to cheer for as the distiller has announced the bottling of the Gimpo Annual Release 2025.
The first several releases this past week have been incredibly small outturn single casks that remain difficult to get hands on, yet this new Kimchangsoo Whisky Gimpo Annual Release 2025 will prove much more accessible, with about 2,500 bottles (still relatively small by international standards, yet definitely larger compared to its single casks which are just under 200 bottles) to be released across South Korea from 20th September 2025. The naming of the expression "Annual Release 2025" also indicates the likelihood that fans should expect an annual broad release of the South Korean single malt whisky.
The Kimchangsoo Whisky Gimpo Annual Release 2025 is bottled at 51% ABV Cask Strength, and is made from a mix of peated malt and unpeated malt, and is a vatting of 10 casks ranging from 3 years 4 months old to 4 years 5 months old, most of which are said to be Sherry casks, with also Burgundy Pinot Noir wine casks in the mix. It is priced at 198,000 Won (US$142.70) VAT inclusive.
