Laphroaig's New Cairdeas French Oak Is Islay Distillery's First Ever 100% French Oak Maturation
Each year, Laphroaig gives its fans reason to rejoice, and a dram to always make sure that fans know that they are on the distillery's mind - the annual Cairdeas expression always promises something unique to keep a look out for, and this time, we've got the distillery's first ever 100% French Oak matured Laphroaig!
The name "Cairdeas" is Gaelic for kinship and kindred friendship, and so Laphroaig has always put out something special for its fans under the Cairdeas series which as it says, is Made For The Friends Of Laphroaig.
The new Laphroaig Cairdeas French Oak is said to combine the Islay giant's iconic smoky, salty and sweet profile with the bold, dark and savoury notes of the French Oak cask style. It is said to offer a flavour profile that is characterised by coffee, cherries and sea salt, and will be bottled at 52.6% ABV (or 105.2 Proof).

Official Tasting Notes
With bold notes of wood shavings and peat fires. A wave of plum and maraschino cherry, dark chocolate and polished leather. And a characteristic finish of sea salt and lingering peat smoke.
As Laphroaig puts it, at 52.6% strength, this is Laphroaig like you've never tasted before. Welcome to your newest friend.
Kanpai!
