Founded in just 2018, Penelope Bourbon has gone on to be quite the cult favorite, with its stylishly lanky bottles and instantly recognisable "P" logo - its classy bottles have definitely made its rounds on Instagram.
But what's in the bottle has been just as quick to win over hearts and palates - with unique cask finishes like Rose casks, Rio casks, and even Vino de Naranja casks, used to mature its blend of three different mashbills which it sources (from MGP currently) as a non-distilling producer (or NDP).
Now, MGP, the giant Bourbon factory that's known to produce Bourbons that are bottled independently under a whole slew of labels, has gone all in to acquire Penelope Bourbon for US$105 million in cash. The deal is expected to close by June 2023 and will represent 100% of the company's equity transacted, along with all its inventory (bottled or still maturing), as well as intellectual property rights.
The brand Penelope was created when co-founder Michael Paladini had wanted to celebrate the birth of his newborn daughter, Penelope. Together with Danny Polise, the duo has grown the brand to currently feature 11 different Straight Bourbon Whiskey expressions.
