Nagahama Distillery has scheduled the launch of its fourth release - the Nagahama Mont-Perat Batch, which will be available from April 23rd 2024.
In creating the Mont-Perat Batch, the distillery / brewery / brewpub made use of whiskies distilled by Nagahama in 2017, which were first aged in ex-Bourbon barrels, and then subsequently transferred to ex-Islay Quarter barrels, before finally finishing the whisky off from 2021 in Chateau Mont-Perat Red Wine and White Wine barrels. The two spirits were then vatted together to create the Nagahama Mont-Perat Batch.
Official Tasting Notes
Color: Calm Amber
Aroma: Pound cake with boiled orange syrup to begin with. Fresh fruits such as muscat, lemongrass, and grapefruit. Gradually aromatic oak, dark berries and plums appear.
Taste: Attack-ripe red apple. The mouthfeel is extremely smooth, with a gentle, warm sweetness reminiscent of maple syrup, and the final finish is a long, flowery finish reminiscent of violets and osmanthus.
The Japanese single malt expression is bottled at 50% ABV, and will be available at 11,000 Yen before tax.
