Thomson Whisky Distillery calls Riverhead, some North West of Auckland, home. It was started in 2014 by a small team led by Mathew Thomson, their Master Distiller, and is self-described as having started “the same way you’d start a band”. They make it clear that they aren’t here to take over the world and hog the podium (which they somewhat have failed at, considering the numerous prizes they’ve garnered) – they’re just a bunch of enthusiasts who want to give New Zealanders a whisky to be proud of. 

Two years ago, we reviewed Thomson Whisky's Manuka Wood Smoke "Progress Report" Single Malt (intended as a maturation "Work in Progress" expression), and despite its name, we found it fantastic. Recently, their South Island Peat Single Malt had also won Gold and became a Category Winner in the New Zealand Single Malt (NAS) category of the 2023 World Whiskies Awards. It's safe to say, Thomson Whisky is one of the most important rising craft distilleries to watch from New Zealand. 

We're excited to say that Thomson Whisky is now available in Singapore through their distributor Spirited. Singaporean drinkers can now purchase core editions of Thomson Whisky and various expressions of Victor Gin produced by Thomson Distillery.

The hat-trick of core editions are the Manuka Smoke Single Malt (a supposed upgrade to the "Work In Progress" expression!), the award-winning South Island Peat Single Malt as well as the Two Tone Blend (matured in two different cask styles).

Over the course of the year, Spirited would also be releasing limited edition expressions including Singapore-exclusive single cask whiskies.  

Spirited is a Singapore-based purveyor of spirits and beverages established with the purpose of connecting craft, artisanal and small batch producers and distillers with consumers who are looking to explore newer flavours, profiles and spirit types. Started in 2021, it is currently importing, distributing and retailing award winning spirits from Asia, Europe, America and now New Zealand, to businesses and consumers in Singapore and South East Asia.
