Midleton Distillery's experiment lab, Method and Madness, is here to replace oat lattes with oat whiskies - introducing the Method and Madness Oats and Malt, which as the name suggests, makes use of Irish oats and malt that is then triple distilled in Midleton's Micro Distillery's copper pot stills. This is the second expression from Midleton's Micro Distillery.
"Masterfully handcrafted, the second METHOD AND MADNESS release produced in the Micro Distillery, pays tribute to the traditional malt flavours of sweet cereal, green apple and notes of lemon zest, while the inclusion of oats brings new tastes and aromas with notes of marshmallow and fudge along with a sumptuously creamy finish."

The team used a mash bill of 60% oats and 40% malt for the latest expression which was then matured in ex-bourbon casks, and finally bottled at 46% ABV for a "soft texture yet crisp taste". The team mentions that in the pursuit of the creation of innovative mash bills and new techniques, much experimentation was necessary to ensure the whiskey was not too viscous but yet was able to retain the unique flavors imparted by the Irish sourced oats.
