Old Pulteney Marks Two Centuries With 200th Anniversary Distillery Exclusive 10 Year Old Single Malt Release

To celebrate 200 years, Old Pulteney has unveiled a 10 Year Old single malt.
This particular expression is described as a golden-hued whisky that encompasses the brand’s coastal character.
Established in 1826 in the coastal town of Wick, the distillery's famed "maritime malt" owes its distinctive character to its rugged location on Scotland’s northernmost shores. Its exposed coastal position and bracing sea air have been fundamental to shaping the whisky's signature briny, maritime flavor profile.
The liquid was initially aged in American oak ex-Bourbon barrels before undergoing a dual finishing period in both ex-Manzanilla and ex-Oloroso sherry casks — a first-of-its-kind maturation strategy for the distillery.
It is said to have notes of vanilla, citrus, spiced dried fruits, polished oak and caramelised pear on the nose, all of which is lifted with saline.
The palate then promises notes of crème caramel, rich vanilla, lemon zest, salted chocolate and cinnamon, while the finish should have a balanced presence of soft sweetness with a maritime saltiness.

Old Pulteney will also open its distillery doors for a special open day on June 20 to mark its 200th anniversary.
Those from the Wick community and with a local postcode will be able to visit and experience the distillery’s newly renovated grounds.
