Thailand’s First Single Malt Whisky Prakaan Debuts in Singapore

In partnership with distributor Malt & Wine Asia, International Beverage has announced the Singapore launch of Prakaan, Thailand’s inaugural premium single malt whisky.

Prakaan (Thai for "Fortress") is crafted at the Prakaan Distillery in Kamphaeng Phet, an ancient city in Thailand that was a prominent connecting point during the kingdom's prosperous era.

Prakaan's Tribura Series comprises of the Select Cask, Double Cask, and Peated Malt, and is matured in a curated selection of ex-bourbon and Spanish sherry casks.

Prakaan has already secured international acclaim. The Prakaan Select Cask was named Category Winner and Best Thai Single Malt at the World Whiskies Awards 2025, while the Double Cask and Peated expressions earned silver and bronze honours, respectively.

Prakaan Select Cask

Aged in American oak ex-bourbon casks, it comes in at 43% ABV and has an MSRP of SGD120.00. It is said to have the following tasting notes:

Nose: Soft tropical fruits and zesty citrus defined against lush honey sweetness, creamy vanilla, and undertones of lemon cake.

Palate: Round sweetness of caramelised pineapple slices and chewy toffee, complemented with the rich perfume of freshly-ground spices and hints of candied lemon peel.

Finish: Mature and long lasting with ripe fruitiness.

Prakaan Double Cask

Aged in American oak ex-bourbon and Spanish oak ex-sherry casks, it comes in at 43% ABV and has an MSRP of SGD130.00. It is said to have the following tasting notes:

Nose: Ripe tropical fruits mothered in layers of dessert chocolate and vanilla. Raisins and candied citrus peels follow.

Palate: Rich. Pineapples in syrup and ripe mangoes underlined by oaky vanilla and dark
sweetness of warm toffee.

Finish: Full-bodied and smooth with oaky and leathery tones contrasted by a light touch of grated orange zest.

Prakaan Peated Malt

This expression comes in at 43% ABV and has an MSRP of SGD125.00. It is said to have the following tasting notes:

Nose: Fresh tropical fruits complemented by a layer of soft wood smoke. Spices and rich vanilla sauce in the background.

Palate: Sweet and textured. Smoke comes to the fore but keeps its gentle, round quality. Caramel and runny honey follow with citrus and pineapple shining through.

Finish: Warming and long, the finish descends slowly from bright fruitiness to sweet smoke.

The debut marks significant expansion in the "New World" whisky category, this time introducing the heritage and unique tropical maturation of Northern Thailand to whisky drinkers across Southeast Asia.

Prakaan Single Malt Whisky is now available in Singapore from its appointed distributor Malt & Wine Asia.
