Redbreast Irish Whiskey Adds Moscatel Wine Finished Expression to its Iberian Series

Redbreast Irish Whiskey has unveiled the Redbreast Moscatel Wine Cask Edition, a limited-edition single pot still whiskey finished in Moscatel wine casks from  Southern Spanish producer Bodegas Quitapenas.

Moscatel is a sweet fortified white wine produced from muscat grapes and lauded for its rich, sweet and floral notes.

The expression will be the 5th expression to join Redbreast's Iberian Series, which celebrates the brand's long-standing connection to some of the Iberian Peninsula's most celebrated cooperages and winemakers.

The brand has described the whiskey as being citrus-forward, with notes  of tangerine, orange peel, chamomile, nutmeg, cedarwood, vanilla, floral honey, black peppercorn and clove.

This expression was blended by Master Blender David McCabe at Midleton Distillery in County Cork, with the casks used in finishing consisting of European oak hogsheads that were seasoned with Moscatel wine for two years.
