One of the world's largest bulk rum storer and suppliers, Amsterdam's E&A Scheer, has been acquired for an undisclosed sum by investment firm Platinum Equity. The company was acquired from The Riverside Company, which first racked up a significant investment in E&A Scheer in 2019.

E&A Scheer's history dates back to the early 1700's when it began sourcing and blending rums for businesses to purchase. The company today ages its rum stocks in Liverpool in the UK, which it shares with sister company Main Rum Company, sourcing its rums from over 60 producers from 40 countries.
