Sapporo Breweries announced on Monday a $643 million investment to acquire a 25% stake in a joint venture with Danish brewer Carlsberg. The strategic partnership will target markets across Southeast Asia and Hong Kong.
Expected to launch in December 2026, the Singapore-based venture will continue to be 75% owned by Carlsberg.
Through this expanded alliance, Sapporo will extend its existing partnership with Carlsberg in Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Singapore to encompass Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia.
The Japanese brewer will grant the joint venture a long-term license for its flagship Sapporo Premium Beer, allowing the company to establish diversified revenue streams across these markets.
The strategic collaboration is designed to turbocharge sales, with the goal of increasing Sapporo Premium Beer volumes in the target markets to approximately ten times their 2025 levels by 2035.
