Scotch Producer Loch Lomond Group Purchases New York Distilling Co In Rare Move

Scotch producer Loch Lomond Group's (LLG) has just announced the acquisiton of New York Distilling Co (NYDC) for an undisclosed sum, marking its first foray into the American Whiskey market. LLG currently owns a series of Single Malt Scotch brands in its portfolio, including Loch Lomond, Glen Scotia, and Littlemill.

Upon acquiring NYDC, LLG plans to boost its distillation and production capabilities, especially enhancing its on-site visitor experience. It also aims to expand NYDC's brand portfolio both in the US and internationally.

In March 2024, NYDC moved its distillery operations from Williamsburg to Bushwick, notably launching a new line of rye whiskeys under the Jaywalk label.

NYDC was founded in 2011 by Tom Potter and Allen Katz, who said that they were "excited to work with Colin and the Loch Lomond Group team going forward to help us grow further our fantastic brands around the world.

LLG has a strong track record of success, winning multiple major awards over many years for their whisky brands of Loch Lomond, Glen Scotia, Littlemill and High Commissioner, and with sales in over 120 countries around the world, we can’t wait to introduce NYDC’s brands to many of the key whiskey markets over the next period.”
