Shizuoka Distillery's New United S

Shizuoka Distillery has been taking us along on their journey of making Japanese single malts, starting with the Prologues K and W, and then the Contact S, and then more recently a set of bottlings that showcases the flavor difference in local and imported barley.

Now, after 1 year, the distillery has a successor to the Contact S - the United S.

The United S is created by blending the 3 Year Old whiskies from Pot Still K and Pot Still W, to create a profile that has a "smooth and balanced tasted that can be compared to a ball".

"The fruity and light whiskey from K forms the top half of the ball, while the heavy and powerful whiskey from W supports the bottom half. In this way, the “S Series” embodies the style of Shizuoka Distillery, where it has the individuality of two unblended whiskeys, but is in harmony with them."

The new expression is created using Japanese malt, imported Scottish non-peated and peated malt, and also beer barley, and was later aged in first-fill bourbon barrels and wine barrels.

"It's been a year since the first contact between whiskey W and K. The fusion of the two whiskeys has further deepened and evolved into United S.
Shizuoka Distillery cultivates whiskey born from two different distillation methods: direct firewood fire W and indirect steam heating K.

The blend ratio of these unblended whiskeys is 1:1, which has been the goal of United S since the beginning. The true appearance of single malt Shizuoka has finally become a whiskey. Please find out the taste of Japanese Whiskey S, which is suitable for the word "unique".

- Nakamura, Founder of Shizuoka Distillery
