Lottery applications are open for Shizuoka Distillery's Pot Still K Imported Barley First Edition!
This follows the Pot Still K Japanese Barley expression (we reviewed it here), with the goal of this series of single pot still whiskies allowing fans to compare the differences between Imported Barley and Japanese Barley, which distillery founder, Daiko Nakamura, has highlighted Japanese barley as being sweeter in his masterclass.
The new Pot Still K Imported Barley is said to have a "fusion of light and fruity taste", and was aged in a mix of ex-Bourbon barrels and ex-Sherry barrels for the first time, giving it "unprecedented complexity". It was made using a mix of Scottish non-peated and peated malt.
“We will release 100% foreign malt as the third K series. Distiller K's light and fruity taste is still expressed even with foreign malt. Furthermore, it has a slight smoky scent brought by peated malt. In addition to bourbon barrels, sherry barrels are used for aging for the first time, adding complexity as an accent to the taste. Please enjoy the light collaboration between a historic Japanese distiller and Scottish malt.”
- Daiko Nakamura
It is limited to 3,000 bottles, bottled at 55.5% ABV, and priced at 13,970 Yen (or US$103).
