Springbank Debuts New Vintage Series Showcasing Oldest Whiskies

When Springbank has a new release, everyone's heart pauses the length of time it takes to read the front and back labels. The rare family-owned, independent Scotch distillery has been the shining beacon of not just Campbeltown, the smallest Scotch whisky producing region, but has become emblematic of great Scotch whiskies as a whole.

As the distillery counts down (with great whiskies of course, in the form of the Countdown Collection - aptly named) to its 200th anniversary due to take place in 2028, the 197 year old distillery has kept its whiskymaking traditional and as artisanal as it needs to to maintain its distinct quality, generation after generation of the J & A Mitchell family. That means laborious floor malting, mashing, fermentation, distillation and bottling - all of that is done at the distillery, by hand and in-line with traditional practices. And from their incredible work they've produced several brands of great whiskies, the flagship Springbank, as well as Hazelburn and Longrow, showcasing varying levels of peatiness.

And as every release from Springbank has become highly sought after and anticipated, here's one more to add to the list - the new Springbank Vintage Series.

This Single Malt Whisky has been bottled as part of the Springbank Vintage series, a collection of limited annual releases launched in 2025 to showcase some of our oldest whiskies.

Each release in the Vintage series has enjoyed a generous maturation period, demonstrating the impact of time on our spirit and presenting the familiar character of older Springbank with the influence of a range of high quality casks.

And to debut the series, we have the first release being a 1998 Vintage Springbank. This expression works out to be 27 years old, set to be bottled at 48.3% ABV, with 1,500 bottles to be released.

Thus far no word is out on how the whisky is made or what barrels were used, and what it might taste like, with just a "Matured in Oak" tag on the front label.

Stay tuned for more!

Kanpai!
