Talisker Offers A Piece Of The Sea With New ‘Katie Tunn' Talisker Skye Single Malt

Surrounded by the raw beauty of windswept landscapes and the vast sea surrounding the Isle of Skye, Talisker's whiskies and flavour profile have long been associated with the rugged coastal character of its location, testament to the distillery’s maritime surroundings.

The trusty Talisker Skye Single Malt expression has for many years, been one of the most beloved expressions from its core range, embodying the maritime essence of the distillery.

The standard Talisker Skye is one of the most beloved entry range expressions from the distillery.

Talisker has recently announced a new limited edition release, the 'Katie Tunn' Talisker Skye expression. This edition honours of the Scottish artist Katie Tunn, who has just been named the distillery's "artist in residence." An artist, writer, adventurer, and marine conservationist, Katie has lived on the Isle of Skye for nearly ten years. Her artistic work draws heavily on the sea for inspiration and aligns with Talisker's own connection to the maritime environment.

Only 2004 bottles of the limited edition 'Katie Tunn' Talisker Skye expression is available. The bottle features a label inspired by the Isle of Skye's varied landscape, from its serene shores to the rugged Cuillin mountains. The design incorporates elements from Tunn's 'Blue Planets' series, which is characterised by the use of vivid blue colours mirroring the vivid blue colours of the sea, and detailed drawings of marine flora and fauna.

To celebrate Katie’s appointment, Talisker and Katie are also hosting a special ‘Piece of the Sea’ whisky tasting, art appreciation and painting event led by Katie. Guests will head down to Talisker Distillery to learn about Katie’s artistic process and how it is influenced by the maritime environment and the Isle of Skye's dramatic coastlines. There would also be a bespoke cocktail and two drams of different Talisker whiskies to pair with the event. Talisker has also added that the distillery is handicap-accessible to ensure that all have the opportunity to experience its whisky. Tickets are now available through Malts.com.

Talisker Distillery is the oldest distillery on Skye, and has been around for close to 200 years. Following a significant transformation in 2022 as part of Diageo's £185 million investment in Scotch whisky tourism, the revamped Talisker Distillery now offers enhanced interactive visitor experiences and distillery tours, further cementing its status as one of the must-visit destinations in the Islands region of Scotland.

“We pride ourselves on providing our guests with unforgettable experiences when they visit us at Talisker. We’re privileged to be able to work with Katie to create both a truly special label design for Talisker Skye, and an unmissable painting and tasting session where our guests can see first-hand how she goes about crafting her stunning art. Katie has been a friend of the distillery for quite some time now, so it’s great to continue our relationship in this way, while giving our guests the chance to secure two further mementos of their time with us.”
