Suntory Collaborates With Japanese Painter Hiroshi Senju For Collector's Edition Hibiki Whisky

The House of Suntory has announced a collaboration between its flagship blended Japanese whisky Hibiki and the celebrated Japanese painter Hiroshi Senju.

The collaboration "Waterfall on Colors" has two limited edition blends: Hibiki 21 Years Old and Hibiki 30 Years Old. They are said to draw together the background of Hibiki — a blend of whiskies from Suntory’s distinguished distilleries in Yamazaki, Hakushu, and Chita and embraces the balance between people and nature — with Hiroshi Senju's inspirations from Japan's landscapes, utilizing natural materials to honor the environment.

Hiroshi Senju is a highly acclaimed artist recognized globally for his distinctive style that merges Eastern and Western philosophies. His works are featured in major international institutions, such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and at his own museum located in Karuizawa, Japan.

The artwork of each bottle's case features ten shades of purple, inspired by the deep Kokimurasaki gradient that symbolizes Hibiki, which the brand says reflects noble origins and a deep connection to rarity and craftsmanship.

Senju's technique involves filling canvas panels with water, hokaimatsu (a natural marble powder) and allowing the flow of water to guide the colors freely.

both the label and the presentation box, serving as a visual parallel to the whisky’s balanced character.

The expression has been touted by the brand to present a blooming, elegant roundness harmonized with the deep complexity of honeycomb, sandalwood, and dried apricot, all complemented by the subtle complexity of Mizunara oak. The finish is said to be long and graceful, tenderly unfolding with a delicate, incense-like aroma.

On the other hand, the Hibiki 30 Years Old is presented as a true collector’s piece, encased in a traditional byōbu-style display with multi-panel screens, complete with a reflective base, an etched Hibiki emblem, and a waterfall wrap at the neck of the crystal bottle.

Said to reflect the Japanese ideal of refined elegance, it boasts layers of brown sugar, dried fig, gingerbread, and apricot jam. The finish is advertised as rich with blossoming elegance, showcasing the depth of Mizunara oak complemented by a warm hint of cinnamon.

Both expressions are bottled at 43% ABV. The Hibiki 21 Years Old Artist Collaboration with Hiroshi Senju SRP and Hibiki 30 Years Old Artist Collaboration with Hiroshi Senju both have MSRPs of $899.99 USD and $7,500.00 USD respectively.

They will be available worldwide from October 22, 2025, in limited quantities across the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Northern Europe, China, Australia, Singapore, Taiwan, South Korea, and select global travel retailers.

The presentation boxes for Hibiki 21 Years Old and Hibiki Japanese Harmony will also include a beautifully crafted Furoshiki Scarf showcasing Senju’s waterfall imagery.
