The Macallan has announced the highly anticipated new edition of their Archival Series with the the release of Folio 8, said to celebrate the brand's creative advertising campaigns from the 1980s and 1990s.
More specifically, this expression celebrates the brand's "Colossus of Nose" campaign from the 1980s, where Art Director David Holmes and Copy Writer Nick Salaman ingeniously transformed The Macallan's signature aroma into a billboard icon, echoing the grandeur of the Colossus of Rhodes.
Launched in 2015, The Macallan Archival Series celebrates the remarkable evolution of the brand, tracing its path from a secluded Speyside farm to its current status as a globally acclaimed single malt.

This new edition is is said to have golden sultanas, ripe dates, sweet berry compote, toffee brittle, lemon peel, cinnamon, and hints of anise on the nose, with a palate of sweet raisins, sultanas, ginger, lemon and orange zest, toffee, and sweet oak. The finish is said to be long and rich with sweet oak spices.
Even the colour is said to have been carefully crafted to look like the roof tiles in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain – where The Macallan’s cask journey begins and is also apparently a subtle reference to the sculpture of the Nose in the billboard campaign.
