Velier & Foursquare Go Supernum On First Ever Pineau des Charentes Double Maturation 21 Year Old Barbados Rum

Whilst the beloved Foursquare Exceptional Cask Selection (ECS) series might be winding to a close, it appears that the highly collected and anticipated Velier & Foursquare collaboration is set to continue with a new one in the works!
Just months after we saw a teasing of the new double matured 15 Year Old ex-Bourbon and ex-Cognac Indomitas, it appears that the forays into Cognac are not over, with this time that much more age and something alittle less common from the Cognac region.
The new Velier Foursquare Supernum - "Supernum" being the Latin adjective for "celestial" or "heavenly", and also simply "above" - appears to be a 21 Year Old Blended Rum of Double Maturation (19 Years Ex-Bourbon & 2 Years Ex-Pineau des Charentes). It was distilled in 2004 and is marked for release as of February 2026, after having been 100% fully matured in the Tropics, and appears to be a blend of two parcels of rums (one parcel fully ex-Bourbon matured, and the other parcel ex-Bourbon and then ex-Pineau des Charentes matured).
Now, who said just because we don't have the ECS releases anymore, that Richard Seale, Foursquare's chief, was about to stop teaching us new vocabulary?

A collaboration between Luca Gargano and Richard Seale.
A blend of single matured rums (ex-bourbon) and double matured rums (ex-bourbon and ex-Pineau des Charentes) matured for a total of 21 years. Each rum is blend of copper double retort pot still and the traditional twin column coffey still before barrel filling.
Whilst less famous than the region's flagship Cognac spirit, Pineau des Charentes is also made in the Cognac region of France, and is in fact a French fortified wine that is produced by blending fresh grape must with Cognac eau-de-view, which lands it around 16%-22% ABV. It is aged for at least 18 months, and is often enjoyed as a chilled aperitif. Much like wine, it comes in three predominant styles of white, red and rosé, and is by and large sweet and fruity, with the white variants (from Ugni Blanc or Colombard grape) honeyed, of candied fruit and white florals, whilst the red and rosé (from Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot) typically showing various shades of red berries.
This appears to be the first time we're seeing Foursquare participate in releasing its Barbados rum with an ex-Pineau des Charentes maturation (with the rum 100% fully matured in the Tropics), although there have been a few releases from independent bottlers that have showcased Foursquare rum with such a maturation (which may include some period of continental ageing in Europe).
The Velier Foursquare Supernum is set to be bottled at 55% ABV Barrel Proof. A total of only 2,800 bottles are set to be released.
