Just less than a year ago, Westward introduced their top of the line cuvee, the Milestone Edition No. 1, which was designed to be the start of an annual collection of Milestone expressions, for which we now have Milestone Edition No. 2 - A Discovery Of Spice!

At the core of the Milestone expressions is the use of a Solera system containing some of the distillery's oldest barrels which it then harmonises and marries through blending the various barrels.

“With Milestone, we have selected our most distinctive whiskeys and crafted a 21-barrel Solera system of slow-proofed spirit that will continue to evolve over time to ensure our story and vision will also progress into the future,... Pulling from the archives, we have integrated some of our oldest whiskeys with a selection of beautiful wine and wood finishes, both from our home near in Willamette Valley and from coveted winemaking regions around the world," said Master Blender Miles Munroe.

With the Milestone Edition No. 2, Master Blender Miles Munroe had taken inspiration of the elevated expression of spice after a visit to Taiwan, where he had tasted Westward's whiskies as paired with local street food. And thus for the second edition of Milestone, the distillery has opted to use a variety of finishing casks including Pinot Noir, rum and stout, all to give an intensely rich and spiced flavour.

Official Tasting Notes

Aroma: Honeysuckle, dried cherry, mocha & rich raisin, toasted almond.

Taste: Peach streusel, rum raisin, coconut flake, apple pie.

Finish: Fig jam, vanilla bean, stewed orchard fruit, cinnamon roll.

Westward's new Milestone Edition No. 2 is bottled at 48.5% ABV, and is priced at US$250.
