Chichibu Yoshiya Hongo Collection
In this new collection of four single cask Chichibu whiskies, artist Yoshiya Hongo and Michelin-starred chef Shinichi Sato have collaborated with French spirits distributor and retailer La Maison du Whisky to explore new dimensions of art and taste.
For each expression, Hongo was invited to create an original work of art inspired by the tasting notes of Sato who helms the Parisian Restaurant Blanc. Using abstract aluminium sculptures, Hongo is said to have translated the aromatic and taste profiles of the four whiskies as selected and tasted by Sato, including a peated and unpeated duo aged in Bourbon barrel, a third aged in Oloroso Sherry, and the last being aged in a local cider cask.

Caroni Paradise #12 Is Here
In 2022, it was announced that the last of the casks from the fabled Trinidadian Caroni Distillery had been shipped in 2019 to Cognac, France, where it would now enter the last leg of its journey, with much of the rum transferred to glass demijohns in order to stop its ageing in wood - this became the Caroni Paradise series.
The Paradise range was named in tribute to the Cognac tradition in which mature eau de vie is transferred to glass demijohns to rest in dark warehouses named the paradis, which house some of the oldest Cognacs, allowing for the spirit to live for over a century before being bottled.
Caroni Paradise #12 is bottled at 60.8% ABV and is drawn from Single Cask #5627 with just 234 bottles.

Velier's Nine Leaves Unsun Karuta Series Sees Five More
It came as a massive shock to the rum community when it was announced in 2024 that Japan's leading cult followed one-man show Nine Leaves would see its founder and operator Yoshiharu Takeuchi step down for personal familial reasons from the deeply artisanal rum-maker that he had built from scratch. What followed was an announcement that his rum making equipment as well as any remaining casks of rum he had on hand would be passed on to leading rum distributor and co-bottler (and in this case collaborator) Velier, which has since been stored in Nine Leaves' cellars that was once a former mine. Takeuchi-san had made the incredibly tough call to call it a day, and would have Velier immortalise what was left of his work in a final series so named after the Japanese card game Unsun Karuta (of 75 cards).
2024 saw the first batch of 5 Unsun Karuta release of Nine Leaves' rums - including the final distillation run, an unaged white rum titled Last Drops - and in 2025, we'll be seeing 5 more releases within the Unsun Karuta series. The 5 bottlings were produced between 2017 and 2020, and ranges from rums aged in Sherry PX casks to Armagnac, Spanish Oak and Red Wine casks.

Velier's 3rd Magnum Series To Feature Full Hampden Line-Up With Photographs From Cristina De Middel
The Magnum Series is so named after the legendary Magnum photographers cooperative, which was founded in Paris in 1947 by several notable photographers including Henri Cartier-Bresson. The Magnum Series of Velier would thus feature a set of rums selected by the Italian co-bottler, with each iteration of the series featuring the photographic works of an illustrious photographer who is part of the Magnum cooperative - each bottle of said edition would thus feature a photograph from the photographer in collaboration.
And now in 2025, it appears we have the first sneak peek at Magnum Edition #3, which will feature the work of Spanish-Belgian photographer Cristina de Middel, and just as interestingly, will feature four rums all selected from only Jamaica's Hampden Distillery.
