Whisky Live Singapore 2022 is a Wrap!

LA MAISON DU WHISKY (LMDW) Singapore is proud to wrap up The Eleventh Edition of Whisky Live Singapore. Held over the weekend of 19th & 20th November 2022 at the Andaz Hotel, located in the heart of downtown Singapore, the Eleventh Edition of Whisky Live Singapore saw over 2,700 visitors interacting closely with more than 80 different brands.

A brief history

From Shanghai to New York, London to Johannesburg, Whisky Live is the international tasting event that brings whisky and spirits connoisseurs together globally.

Since 2010, Whisky Live Singapore has become synonymous with providing whisky & fine spirits enthusiasts with opportunities to interact with the most relevant players and introducing the newest expressions to be offered in the industry.

The Eleventh Edition cements Whisky Live Singapore as the largest whisky & fine spirits tasting show in Asia.

Whisky Live Singapore 2022 saw our most significant growth to date, with over 80 unique brands showcased over the weekend, making Whisky Live Singapore the largest, as well as oldest, whisky & fine spirits tasting show in South-East Asia.

Each year, more and more exhibitors join Whisky Live from around the world, attracting more globe-trotting guests who travel in especially to sample and catch a glimpse of market trends for the APAC region.

While a large portion of the attending demographic remains the consumer public, Whisky Live Singapore is pleased to announce that strategically invited industry guests from regionally ranked bars and restaurants, five-star hotels & luxury retailers made up 30% of our overall attendees.

This year also saw the arrivals of more than 30 exclusive export clients from the APAC region, including importers and distributors in Thailand, Malaysia, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.

Over 500m² dedicated entirely to whiskies in all its forms...

Our largest dedicated Whisky Hall to date was 537m 2 dedicated solely to whiskies in all its forms, with over 30 individual brands represented.

From Singapore’s very own locally produced Hom Mali Rice whiskey by Compendium Spirits, to Bacardi Limited’s extensive portfolio including Royal Brackla, Aberfeldy and Dewars, Whisky Live Singapore continues bridging the gap between craft distilleries and multi-national conglomerates, positioning them to a keenly targeted audience.

Pushing the boundaries on alternative collaborations within the spirits industry, the Whisky Hall saw the introduction of three featured experiential zones: Monkey Shoulder’s pong table, Nikka Whisky’s ice cream cart, and American Express’ Private Cask Teeling, a first-of-its-kind initiative for its Whisky Insurance program.

Singapore’s first ever Rum Gallery made its debut at Whisky Live Singapore 2022

Over 200m 2 of the Andaz Hotel was transformed into a rum paradise for Singapore’s first ever Rum Gallery.

Rum geeks got to meet & greet ambassadors from world-famous brands like Bacardi, Plantation and Diplomatico, alongside being introduced new brands to the market, such as Takamaka from the Seychelles, and an in-depth exploration of Asian rums from Samai Distillery in Cambodia, to Khukri Rums from Nepal.

Rum experts, Richard Seale from Foursquare Distillery, Gregory Vernant from Neisson, La Maison & Velier’s Daniele Biondi and Francesco Signa, and Mark Reynier, founder of both Waterford Distillery, and Renegade Rum Distillery, were amongst some of the distinguished faces flown in for Whisky Live Singapore.

To further celebrate the debut of the Rum Gallery in Singapore, globally ranked bar, Baba au Rum from Athens, Greece, helmed a guest-shift at La Maison & Velier’s rum bar on the cocktail terrace.

Supplementing the theme of exploration at Whisky Live Singapore was the Spirits Avenue; re-zoned into three disctinct areas to showcase the fine spirits world.

Agave Central introduced guests to the rapidly growing categories of Tequila and Mezcal, allowing access to premium brands such as Codigo 1530, and new market additions: Rey Campero, Herencia de la Sanchez, Madre Mezcal and Mezcal Koch.

Redesigned cocktail terrace & spirits avenue, including Agave Central, Rue de la France & Gin Alley...

Further representation in the Spirits Avenue include French spirit categories, from Cognacs and Armagnacs, to creme - a specific fruit liqueur category - and Calvados, spotlighting orchards, vineyards and families behind the iconic French institutions, such as the houses of Drouin, Vallein-Tercinier and Tesseron.

Gin Alley saw the return of crowd favourites, Ki No Bi, and Bobby’s Gin, alongside award-winning Jaisalmer, Elephant Gin, Isle of Harris and more. Perhaps the best representation of the spirit of Whisky Live was embodied by the Pelican Island Highball Table - a Sri Lankan artisanal mixer brand crafted especially for cocktails.

Designed to elevate the nuances behind a quality dram, Pelican Island is a mixer that showcases the expression without overpowering it, much like the philosophy behind Whisky Live Singapore, whose core philosophy is providing a platform to taste, unencumbered, the many different types of whiskies and fine spirits available on the market.

On top of perks like 10% off at La Boutique, Whisky Live Singapore attendees can boast of being first in the market to taste and acquire new releases like Nikka Discovery: Aromatic Yeast, Port Charlotte SC:01, and Singapore-exclusive bottlings, such as the Glenlivet 15 Years Old bottled for Whisky Live Singapore, and limited editions from Caol Ila, Teeling and even Chichibu!

Whisky Live Singapore will be back for its 12th Edition in November 2023. Guests can expect an even larger Whisky Hall, Rum Gallery and Spirits Avenue, with more spots in the free masterclasses, as well as a streamlined La Boutique experience.

For the past 16 years, we’ve evolved from a small bottle shop into a specialized bar, introducing products that are now considered cult-classics, and growing as a multi-channel distributor of fine spirits, with partners including Asia’s Top 50 Bars & Restaurants, luxury hotels and select retail giants.

Our storefront on 80 Mohamed Sultan Road #01-10 has the distinction of being Singapore’s first specialized bottle store, and continues being a niche and dedicated Bar & Retail space on Robertson Quay for whisky & rum connoisseurs with over 3000 carefully curated expressions available for tasting and purchase, while our full portfolio can be found on Whisky.SG
