The 2023 Kentucky Derby is upon us! Well, in a couple of months anyway. And with that we should expect no less from another of Kentucky's popular activity - Bourbon drinking!

Every year, Bourbon-makers in Kentucky put out some special releases to commemorate the derby and this year is no different.

This year Woodford Reserve's 2023 Derby Bottle pays homage to a very famous racehorse - arguably one of the greatest of all time, Secretariat! More GOAT than racehorse, in our opinion, having won the Triple Crown with record breaking times at Derby, Preakness and Belmont.

The special release from Woodford Reserve features racehorse, Secretariat, illustrated by Kentucky native Jaime Corum, celebrating the 50th anniversary of Secretariat's 1973 Derby win, with the star racehorse covered in roses in the Winner's Circle at Churchill Downs.

In the opinion of the brand's master distillery, Elizabeth McCall, this is the distillery's most collectible Derby bottle yet.

The bottle is available via preorder at reservebar.com for US$55 and will be available on retail shelves globally. The brand has been releasing commemorative race day bottles since 1999.
