Rum Reviews

Hampden HPDN <> H, 10 Year Old, House of Cane, bottled by Precious Liquors

A fun-filled evening at Bar Madame to celebrate the official launch of House of Cane’s very first single cask rum in Singapore - a ten-year-old Hampden <>H. This particular cask was distilled in 2013 and aged for six tropical years in Jamaica, followed by an additional four in the UK, and bottled by Precious Liquors in 2024 at 58.8% ABV with an outturn of 233 bottles.

I loved how it had this warm, biscuit-like aroma from the beginning, similar to that perhaps of Anzac biscuits with a dash of desiccated coconuts. The palate was typically punchy, as expected from a Hampden rum with an ester level of 900 - 1,000 g/hl, with an abundance of tropical fruitiness, pineapples, sour mash, but mellowed significantly in the finish, with warm tones of caramel, flambeed bananas, and dried apricots.
