Notes - Masumi Kuro is 1 of the 4 color series 🍶 of Masumi (if you are keen to read about Masumi, please refer to my posting of Masumi Shiro). Having the highest alcohol % in the series and brewed using 2 kinds of 🌾. Although Kuro and Shiro are brewed using the same type of 🌾 and both are Junmai Ginjo, Masumi Kuro is crisp and clear in the mouth and resembles drinking very pure 💧. It actually does not have much ginjo aroma and I can feel the taste of minerals and a very light ricey aroma with every sip. As it goes down the throat, there is a slight burning sensation and a dry aftertaste coupled with a faint woody and mushroom umami sensation.

I would likely pair Masumi Kuro with cured meat and cheese or yakitori or tempura so as to maximize the dry profile of this 🍶. With a dry profile, it is always easy to pair with heavy flavored food especially those with lots of sauces as after every sip of the 🍶 it will help to cleanse the palate and resets it for more such food. Kuro is definitely not your typical Junmai Ginjo which you can expect from other breweries. 🍤🍤🍤
