Bowmore 20 Year Old David Simson Distillery Exclusive | Rainbow Rising

Rainbow Rising - released this day 17th May in 1976, is their 2nd studio album. Rainbow was formed after Ritchie Blackmore left Deep Purple in 1974 due to musical differences. For this album, Blackmore kept only Ronnie James Dio from the previous album line-up and recruited Cozy Powell on drums, bassist Jimmy Bain and keyboard player Tony Carey. The legendary Ronnie James Dio passed away this day yesterday 16th May in 2010.

Bowmore 20yo David Simson Distillery Exclusive. Double matured in oloroso & PX sherry casks at abv 50.7%. Simson was born in 1742, and founded Bowmore Distillery.

From the jump, the sound of this album features sonic elements which are beyond its time. “Tarot Woman” starts with a long, wild synth intro by Carey, which sets a dramatic stage before Blackmore’s guitar riff gradually fades into the song proper. This opening track has a definitive Deep Purple quality especially during Blackmore’s soaring guitar lead. - Classic Rock Review.
