Bruichladdich 29 Year Scary Tale Series | Dire Straits Brothers In Arms

Brothers In Arms was the 5th studio album from Dire Straits, released this day 13th May in 1985. It was recorded at AIR Studios on the Caribbean island of Montserrat, and one of the first albums to be recorded digitally, selling over 30 million copies worldwide. The guitar featured on the album cover is Mark Knopfler's 1937 14-fret National Style "O" Resonator.

The "I want my MTV" line on Money For Nothing was inspired by Mark seeing The Police talking on an ad for MTV. In the studio, Mark happened to remark "I wish Sting was here to sing this part." And someone said, "Well, he is. He's here on holiday!". The Police had recorded on Montserrat for a couple of years and it turned out Sting loved to come to the island to windsurf. So the next morning, warming up, Sting started singing "I want my MTV" over and over. And that was it - John Illsley.
