SMWS 29.262. So long and thanks for all the medicine. | Rory Gallagher Jinx

Rory Gallagher's Jinx was released today 2nd May in 1982, and his 9th studio album. The album contained all originals except one done before by Louisiana Red.

SMWS 29.262. So long and thanks for all the medicine. A masterclass in peat, maturity, freshness, seashore, and fruits. This is a 20yo Laphroaig distilled in 1998 and matured in a 2nd fill barrel/ex-bourbon. 1 of 231 bottles at 55.6% abv 🥃🥃

In an interview with NBC, Rory revealed that Jinx was more gritty and more R&B, but still hard to classify. The reason being he didn't like to be stuck in one mold, and therefore would never do a whole album of straight blues or hard rock. It was the early 80s and feeling that the 70s were too cynical, Rory was expressing some optimism for the 80s, being more creative, spontaneous, and instinctive.
