Paul McCartney - All The Best!Β A compilation album from 1987. It's World Whisky Day π₯π₯ Just before the pandemic closed the world, I was standing outside the Ardbeg Distillery on Islay looking towards the Mull Of Kintyre.
SMWS 3.139. Treacle and Iodine. A 10yo Bowmore distilled in 1998 and bottled at 56.5%. Fantastic light peat and sweet ...
"The song was recorded in Scotland in a little studio on a farm, a mobile unit we had set up. We'd already been spending a lot of time on our farm in Scotland by the mid-seventies. It's in Kintyre, as it happens, not actually on the Mull of Kintyre. I thought my way into the minds of travellers, soldiers returning home, and that dream of coming back to the beautiful country, the beautiful village. Sometimes we do this song in concert where we're in expat places like Canada and New Zealand. We've got some security guys who are Scottish, and you see them welling up." - Paul McCartney.
I saw Paul McCartney at Western Springs in Auckland in 1993 and Mull Of Kintyre was part of the encore.
