Aberlour A'bunadh, Batch 60, 60.3% abv.
Nose: super sherry, light honey, concentrated grapes and cherries, and other red fruits.
Palate: dry, chocolate, dark heavy syrup, some wood, light molasses (did I repeat myself?), just overall intense.
Finish: moderate to long, light sherry and sour wood.
Wow too intense, heavy on flavor fronts and just overwhelming with that abv! Very chocolate like overall, a chocolate-like flavor that is not as bitter as dark chocolate, but not as creamy and sweet as milk chocolate, something in-between; thick in flavors, like a boiled concentrated sherry with a few fruit aspects removed. I can sense and taste good quality, but honestly, so far it's one of the less balanced batches I've had (i.e. 50, 55, 60, etc.); there is definitely a good amount of variability in these A'bunadh. Had this at Bar Entourage, Ulsan, South Korea.
Grade: C+
