Balvenie 17 DoubleWood.
A sequel to the 12 year DoubleWood, matured in supposedly American oak for 17 years and then finished in European oak sherry casks for 6 to 12 months. This release has been making rounds at airport duty free shops.
Nose: slight honey, slight wood notes, floral.
Palate: smooth, no fruit, hints of honey, wood.
Finish: short, slight wood.
It's a sipper. Generally sweet and a good body. Very enjoyable. Love what Balvenie has been doing. Interestingly enough, many other reviewers tasted a variety of fruit as well as intense sweetness, which I didn't taste this time around.
